June 6 witnesses the ground-breaking ceremony of Qian Xuesen Library on Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Shanghai Mayor, Han Zheng attended the ceremony.

Graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1934, he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a scientist who made important contributions to the missile and space programs, dubbed the "Chinese Father of Missile". As a world-renowned scientist on aerospace rockets and aerodynamics, he devoted himself to the study of applied mechanics, engineering cybernetics and system engineering and made significant contributions to Chinese aerospace.

The Library is to be built not only in the memory of father of China's rocketry, but also to pass on his patriotism, earnestness and perseverance in academic pursuit.
